This color study was done in acrylic on canvas, from a photograph taken by National Geographic photographer, Alex Saberi. The idea was to recreate the image from the source photo (below) in the inverse color pallet.

This was an assignment for image methodology where we designed a corresponding image for a chapter or part of a book. I designed several of these postcards in photoshop that captured all the characters, settings, and objects from the book.

For this assignment, I made a copy of a watercolor by David Mack, and then created a new composition with the same style and theme. Below is the original image by David Mack.

Two Imaging Approaches

After crafting a miniature scene out of mostly popsicle sticks, fabric, wire and cardboard, I made a paper mache character for the scene. I also used a miniature canvas and acrylic paint. I then re-created the same one-panel comic in pen and ink.

Using aftereffects, I animated the climate and temperature of four cities over a three-day weekend. There are three segments of the animation, which organize the information by location, temperature, and the days of the weekend. The project is about using animation to make logical transitions between the three segments.
